Experienced Sports Lawyer & Administrator

 

Stuart Corbishley is an experienced sports and major events lawyer and administrator who advises high profile national and international sports bodies and major events on a range of legal, governance, integrity, commercial and operational issues.  Stuart brings a unique perspective to his advice, having advised clients at every level of sport.

 

Major Event Experience                   

 

Stuart led the legal teams at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games and AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015, and is currently performing the roles of General Counsel & Company Secretary for Invictus Games Sydney 2018 and for Football Federation Australia’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 bid. 

 

Stuart has also advised Cricket Australia on the establishment of the KFC Big Bash League and the Rebel Women’s Big Bash League, Athletics Australia on the creation of Nitro Athletics and Netball Australia on the development of Suncorp Super Netball.

Governing Body Experience

 

Stuart has advised international governing bodies, including the Commonwealth Games Federation and Ultimate Fighting Championship, and national governing bodies, including Football Federation Australia, Cricket Australia, Netball Australia, Australian Olympic Committee, National Rugby League, Australian Rugby Union, Athletics Australia, V8 Supercars and Hockey Australia.

Stuart has also advised Australian State & Territory governing bodies, including Football NSW and Netball NSW.

Other Sports Experience

Stuart has also advised corporate sponsors, sports agencies, player agents and professional athletes.

 

Director & Company Secretary

 

Stuart is a Director of Triathlon Australia, and was a Director and Company Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association (2012-17).

Stuart is the Company Secretary of the organising committee for Invictus Games Sydney 2018, and was the Company Secretary of Local Organising Committee AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 Limited (2012-16).

 

Stuart is also a current member of Athletics Australia’s Ethics and Integrity Committee and Football NSW’s Legal and Regulatory Committee.
